Here’s the Monkey on the Lam(b) show from last week. There’s an extra 15 or so minutes at the beginning in which I was very awkwardly interviewed by 2 girls from Brooklyn desperately seeking men and breast implants, I was a little bit thrown because I wasn’t prepared for the mania that would ensue upon appearing at the station, but it was fun, and I hope they’ll be there very often in the future, their show is hilarious.

I finally got around to editing and uploading the two shows from last week. My computer was wigging on me at the beginning of the process for both recordings so the two recordings start a little late (and i forgot to edit the bit of democracy now out of the end of Wolfie’s show) but they are mostly intact. My friend Mike Mackey, who sometimes plays for Kahoots, The Road Apples, and other bands, created this texture heavy album in february for the RPM Challenge. The purpose was to create an album in 28 days, from start to finish. I think he did a pretty sweet job – especially given only a month. The results are downloadable here.

Older Work 10: Plague of Love

I added a couple quick photoshops that I created for my friend Matt a while back to the art section (one of them was already there, but I decided to throw the supplement in alongside it). These were for a film audition that never became an actual film, but we had some fun shooting in Richard Lee’s house anyway. It was intended to be about questioning sanity, and I played an insane person.

I really got into the role and the lines between fun and reality became crossed and confused, most of the action was improvised on the spot with very little rehearsal and until “cut” was shouted I found myself wondering if everyone had really gone off the deep end. I also had a scene in which I was thrown out of a moving car. It was shot 3 times and I got my leg caught in a cable. Matt, if you read this, I’d love the raw footage some time, if any of it is still sitting around somewhere. Actually, it might be too horrifying to watch.

I designed these images to be as sexy as possible for the purpose of drawing people to the bodies, then placing the rats on the head, a bit like the Windowlicker artwork, it becomes disturbing if looked at for more than a quick glance.

I’m going to this tonight.

I’m a little bit intimidated, to be honest.

There’s a pool party, classes on how to run a stripping oriented website, and various other events.

It’s at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA and it lasts through sunday (I’ll be leaving during the day that day).

Anyone gonna be in Boston this weekend? Drop me a line. Come on by? Or perhaps I’ll be able to peel my eyes away and get out of the hotel for a bit to visit.

Sarah’s going to have an Aequinox booth at the show and is selling several items.

Oh yeah and, on Saturday I’m going to run off to the AT&T store and buy myself an iPhone. Huzzah.

He played a ton of new music, much of which was new to me as well, and his radio presence was dynamic and funny. I got turned on to a few bands I’d never heard from this episode, and for me that’s a rarity. Listen to it.

Aequinox in Manhattan

Design for the Aequinox advertisement at Manhattan Vintage on April 24th and 25th.

I took some hefty influence from the Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre designs, of which I recently purchased a print. The elements and juxtaposition on this particular piece are of my own doing, however, with some specific tweaks and guidance from Sarah.

If you’re in Manhattan on April 24th, stop by the show and buy some clothes. I’ll be there as well, looking out of place and very likely rather disheveled in contrast with the other attendees.

Edit: Made some modifications, and created a second image. The second was done tonight, this is for the mailing cards.

There Are Still Towns In America Where You Can’t Buy A Drink.

It’s true. I work in one of them. Dry towns, they’re called, for the uninitiated. These are places that never got around to repealing prohibition and now contain just enough votes against change to hold back the rest of the public from ordering a nice glass of wine with dinner. Why? It will destroy the community, of course!

Well, there is another side of the community that suffers from this mindset: the local business owners. And all the people who want to order a glass of wine and didn’t realize they had to bring their own. Oh yeah, and anyone who is in favor of forward progress.

Okay, Maybe I’m a bit biased.

I was commissioned, through EduComp, for the cause – to design a website to showcase the language of those working toward legislation that would allow beer and wine consumption at restaurants in one such town: Tisbury, otherwise known as Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts.

I should note that personally, I drink very little, perhaps one or two beers or a glass of wine in a month, although, like many, I went through a typical teenage binge phase. I blame the heat and madenning peer pressure of Savannah, Georgia. That’s beside the point, however: the legislation would be good for the town. As it stands, people can bring their own beer or wine to dinner, so the drunks are just as able to get drunk. If anything, this would be more regulatory, and it provides those who want to have a drink at a restaurant that option. I have had a lot of trouble understanding the logic behind the fight against it, aside from stubborn traditionalism.

Consider this a call to anyone who lives in Tisbury: please vote on this on April 14th. It’s a town meeting vote to get it on the ballot in 2010. It needs your help to pass.
